Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jeremiah 17:5-8; Psalm 1; Cor. 15:12,16-20; Luke 6:17, 20-26
The Prophet Jeremiah compares us to the beautiful image of a “tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream…” We can imagine that giving waters.
We can stretch out the roots, the commitments of our life into that river and be nourished by the Savior.
“It fears not the heat when it comes…” So, too in life, we will be accosted by many things and must bear the “heat” of criticism, rejection, lies, selfishness, difficulties in relationships and sorrow. Even midst these challenges we can “bear fruit,” because Jesus is the source of our strength.
