September 1st is the World Day of Prayer for Creation. The day was established by Pope Francis, in 2015, to encourage Catholics to pray for our common home.
The World Day of Prayer for Creation begins the Season of Creation that runs from September 1st through October 4th, the Feast of St. Francis. This year’s theme is: To Hope and Act with Creation. We are being called to bring hope, born of faith, to meet the challenge of climate change in concrete action through prayer, service, and behavior change.
The Season of Creation website contains resources that you can use personally or at your parish.

Celebrate this day by taking some quiet time to enjoy the beauty of the world around you. Realize that we cannot survive without all that is part of our Earth, nor can it survive without our care for it. All of nature and humanity are united in relationship; each has its place and is created through the goodness of God. Stand in awe and wonder of all the life that surrounds you.
Close with a prayer of gratitude and commit to better appreciate and care for our Sister Mother Earth.
Throughout this season, challenge yourself to keep one action from the Felician Sisters of North America Year 1 Action Plan for the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. Can it become a permanent behavior change for you?
Spread the word and encourage others to join you!
