|The celebration of Sister Catherine Marie-Elizabeth Rotterman’s first religious profession began the evening of October 28, 2023. The local community prayed Solemn Vespers, with Sister Christina Conroy offering a reflection after the readings. The traditional recitation of the Litany of Loreto followed the liturgy.
The quiet joy from Solemn Vespers overflowed into the next day – Sunday, October 29. The chilly, rainy weather could not put a damper on the spirit of everyone gathered for the Mass of First Religious Profession for Sister Catherine. Thirty-some people (including Felician sisters, family, and friends) squeezed into the chapel with many others joining the Mass via Zoom thanks to the expertise of Sister Francis Lewandowski and Alan Peters.
Father William Schwartz, house chaplain, was the celebrant for the Mass, assisted by Deacon Marc Leaderstorf of the Diocese of Buffalo, family friend and diaconate classmate of Sister Catherine’s recently deceased father Deacon David.
