The CJIPCC held an interprovincial meeting by ZOOM on Tuesday and Wednesday August 23, 24.
On Tuesday, Sister M Jean Sliwinski presented highlights of the background of Laudato Si and the Action Platform. In the Discussion session that followed, Sisters shared what progress was made in assessing actions that they were undertaking in their respective provinces.
On Wednesday, Sister Juscieda Menendez presented the story of Sister Dorothy Strang who was murdered in the Amazon for her work on behalf of the indigenous people whose land and natural resources were being destroyed by first world companies. She also presented on the Amazonian Synod that not only brought awareness of the injustices being done to the nine countries in Amazonia. This launched the global Synod called for by Pope Francis.
In the second Session, Sister Jeremy Marie Midura presented an overview of synodality and the two year process that invited all people to move forward in this process first proposed in Vatican II to engage in listening to each other and discerning how the Holy Spirit is moving us forward as Church today. The Heart of the Church is to live communion, achieve participation and open itself to mission.
