“The call to hope in these dark times goes far deeper than a return to what we’ve named “normalcy”. We know from history that in the face of dramatic events, life and society shifts and is totally altered. Consider the events like the Civil War, the two World Wars and the devastation of September 11, 2001. Our life, our world is being dramatically changed by this worldwide pandemic. The question is will we be changed with it? Will we allow ourselves to simply be stuck hoping for a future of normalcy or will we act to create a new, and more just world? Will we be conscious and reflective enough to admit that life and our worldview has and must continue to change? Are we capable of being transformed to desire the greater good, equality and mutuality for all people and not simply focus on our own needs and our concerns?”
